Ken Reed says the party violated its own bylaws. Chairman Josh Holstein says Reed vacated his seat himself. Both cannot be right.

When the West Virginia Republican Party announced last week that Ken Reed had been removed from the State Executive Committee, the WASP reported it as a party action taken under Article XIV Section C of the WVGOP bylaws. Chairman Josh Holstein had told the WASP the party was “currently working on it.” Then a press release went out. Then Reed’s name was gone from the roster.

Now Reed is pushing back. And Holstein is offering a more precise account of what actually happened, one that reframes the entire episode.
